Hannah and Beau Rockport first met in the church nursery at Community Fellowship. Ever since, they have faced many of life's ups and downs at each other's side. Nothing, however, compares to the pain of infertility. After Hannah's sixth miscarriage, they decide to adopt.

When seven-year-old Lily arrives, full of hurt and distrust, Hannah finds herself on the most difficult journey of her life. Her love and faith are challenged, including her feelings for Beau. As she wrestles with what it really means to love, she thinks back on how she fell in love with her husband in the first place. Is this new chapter in their lives more than their marriage can weather? Or was God preparing them for this season all along?

5.0 out of 5 stars A beautiful story about adoption

Melanie Tillman has once again succeeded in writing a Christian romance novel that breaks out of the box of Christian romance novels. In Here in the Middle she explores themes of pregnancy loss, longing for children, foster care, and adoption with grace and honesty. She has done her research and I really feel like I stepped into that world for a little bit. I also really enjoy the flashbacks of Hannah and Beau's childhood and teen years. All in all, another great read!

5.0 out of 5 stars Insightful and encouraging

As an adoptive mom, I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book that highlighted both the mountaintops and valleys associated with adoption. The author provides insight on the vast array of emotions that often occur with adoption. In addition, the author encourages the reader to widen his/her views on adoption AND how God adopts us as His children. Five stars!

After all the whole church - the whole town - is watching. As the years pass, Kate and Josiah become closer, and the secrets become heavier. Will it all eventually tear them apart?
